Gilbert Plains

Gilbert Plains is located in the valley between Riding Mountain National Park and Duck Mountain Provincial Park. This welcoming community is home to two schools and is approximately a 20-minute drive from Dauphin.

The community of Gilbert Plains was recently featured on CBC’s popular TV show, “Still Standing”. The Gilbert Plains Centennial Park is home to an 18-hole golf course (known to be one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the province), picnic area, campgrounds, wading pool and playground, with plans for a splash park underway.

Gilbert Plains Collegiate offers a variety of courses through traditional on-site classrooms, via video conference with other schools in the Division, and by cross-transportation to Grandview School for vocational programming.
 
Unique to this school within the Division, GPCI offers a course called "VISION" (Very Important Stuff I Obviously Need), which allows students to gain valuable essential skills not formally covered by the curriculum, while preparing them to transition out of high school and into the workforce or post secondary education.

Gilbert Plains Elementary School
 
The Gilbert Plains Elementary School has high roof lines and sky lights in every classroom, which enables natural light to flow into the classrooms throughout the day. Grades 7 and 8 students travel via cross-transportation to Grandview School for industrial arts and home economics classes.
 
GPE is situated on a large lot with a well-developed playground area.  Students have access to two baseball diamonds, two swing sets, several climbing structures, and a play structure complex in the middle of the school yard. Daily Discoveries daycare and nursery program are housed in this school as well.
