Public Statement from the MVSD Board of Trustees

Given recent activity in our school division, including some recent delegations to the Board, we would like to remind our staff, student, and parent communities of the following:

  • There is currently no resolution before the Board of Trustees of Mountain View School Division to change student or parental rights.
  • Thanks for the decorum displayed in the Board Room at the last Regular Board Meeting on Monday, November 27, 2023; it was respectful and orderly.
  • The Board has officially heard delegations from both sides of this issue now and will not entertain delegations with similar messages.
  • Letters expressing opinions and thoughts on these issues may be made to the Board of Trustees and will be received as correspondence. These letters should be sent to: [email protected].
  • The Board of Trustees will continue its work to make Mountain View School Division live up to its mission statement, whereby Mountain View School Division will provide an inspiring, respectful and safe learning environment where every student is valued, nurtured and enabled to realize their full potential.
  • It is important for all sides to consider one another and to be respectful of one another in all interactions.
  • MVSD Board of Trustees will do a robust consideration of the issue and will call on experts to advise in these areas.
  • MVSD is not considering moving against the guidelines as communicated by Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning in these areas.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
